John Q. Doan, CEO
John is a refugee from Vietnam, who immigrated to the US with his mom and brother Roy. He received an engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon then went to graduate school at Harvard. His specialities include, but are not limited to licensed professional engineer(civil), innovative infrastructure finance, community organizing, and project management. He is a true visionary.
Sebastien Tavenas, COO
Resident business planner extraordinaire, investor relations and finance guy. Sebastien is a world traveled Francophile with extensive executive experience in the luxury goods industry. Most recently he was the GM and VP for Global Sales of a luxury tableware company. Prior to that he served as Exec Dir of the French American Chamber of Commerce in Minneapolis. He is a sharp dresser, lives in Edina (we will forgive him for that), married to a opera singer, and a wonderful father.
Steve Vraynes, CTO
Silicon Valley insider, tech expert and connector. Steve was the Chief Technology Officer for Veritas, a $2.4 B internet security and software company. He has been helping me to think through M4A’s mobility management platform and create a demo app. Steve is a veteran silicon valley guy who has funded start ups while at Symantec/Veritas and will be instrumental in helping us launch our app, protect our intellectual property and bring it all to market. Steve’s son, Noah, is a fellow Mounds View HS swim team captain. Steve is a proud U of M alum, lives in North Oaks and the father of 5 amazing kids.
Jodie Tanaka, Marketing & Creative Director
Marketing prodigy and roadie for a heavy metal rock band. Jodie owns and runs Tempo Creative and has serviced notable clients including the Twins, Sun Country and Northwest Airlines, General Mills and MnDOT to name a few. Jodie and I worked together on a number of public media campaigns in the past and met while serving on the Council of Asian Pacific Minnesotans together over a decade ago. Jodie is a trusted friend, champion of the forgotten, Harley rider, and mother. Plus she is an all around fun and awesome human being to be around.
Damien Riehl, Legal Advisor
A technology lawyer who has advised clients on technology, litigated technology issues, and even developed software that implements cutting edge technology to improve the practice of law. His diverse legal experience includes everything from counseling complex business litigation and financial litigation, to intellectual property and appeals. He specializes in topics such as Internet law, computer and technology law, copyright and trademark law, data security, and data privacy. Constantly strives to improve small & large businesses, nonprofits and individuals with his legal practice.
Carl Allen, Strategic Advisor
Transportation and fleet operations czar, public policy junkie and strategic thinker. Carl’s day job is VP for Business Administration and Development for Transdev, a global mobility services provider. Think Super Shuttle and Yellow Cab, which are just a couple of Transdev’s mobility brands in the US. Carl was the Transportation Director for Boston Public Schools, managing a fleet of 750 vehicles and many more drivers serving over 32,000 students daily. He is a serial entrepreneur and will help us identify transportation business models, systems, processes, work flows, strategic partners and investors, one of which could be Transdev. Carl spent 3 years in the Peace Corps in Ghana and worked in the derivatives trading industry in Chicago (talk about bridging 2 very different worlds).
Cuong Pham, Technology Advisor
Start up master, IT expert and savvy businessman. Cuong has started a number of successful IT businesses and is a prolific tinkerer of ideas and products. He has worked for big and small companies and prides himself on identifying core problems and finding elegant solutions. Cuong will help us on IT strategy and development. Cuong’s son, Eric, and my son, Quinn, are classmates at Mounds View HS, swim team buddies and BFFs, plus we share a common Vietnamese heritage as first generation immigrants to the US.
Carl Fredlund, Strategic Advisor
Transportation and tech enthusiast. Product manager at Busbud, focused on inventory and user acquisition. I’m originally from Milwaukee, an urban planning program alum of Vienna University of Technology in Austria, and now live in St Paul. I’ve got strong interest in social entrepreneurship and in cooperatives. My biggest hobbies are travel, riding bikes and camping.
Kaia Raid, Graphics & Web Specialist
A recent University of Minnesota graduate and UX boot camp survivor at Prime Digital Academy, Kaia specializes in translating the MO mission into tangible deliverables. This includes everything from brochure design and website maintenance, to advising on user flows and application feasibility. In past lives, she was a visual merchandising manager, helped improve guest experiences at a prestigious beachside resort in South Florida, and was even featured on one of those home improvement shows while she was in art school. When she’s not designing and solving problems, you can find her kayaking or most likely watching Netflix with her cat, Louie.
